Bottom of the seventh, two outs, tie game — no problem for Fallon’s Tyler Bagby.
The sophomore third baseman smoked a bases-loaded single to right field to give the Greenwave an 8-7 Northern Division I-A win over South Tahoe on Friday at the Edward Arcinega Complex.
With the win, Fallon improves to 2-3 on the season and takes on Truckee at 9 a.m. and Sparks at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in Dayton as part of the Lahontan League/Mount Rose crossover.
South Tahoe falls to 2-2-1 and takes on Dayton at 9 a.m. and Fernley at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Dayton.
Fallon took a 3-1 lead over the Vikings in the second inning after senior Hunter Mori crossed home. South Tahoe, though, caught fire in the top of the third inning when Sergio Burgueno, Christian Coats, Diana Dominic and Jordan Mann all scored to give the Vikings a 5-3 lead. Coats led South Tahoe with three runs scored.
Dominic and Mann also had RBI singles to put South Tahoe ahead. After scoring one run in the top of the fourth inning, Fallon countered with two in the bottom half.
Sophomore shortstop Dalton Frank blasted a two-run double to score Tristen Salazar and Mori. Salazar also went the distance on the mound and earned the win.
The Wave added two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 7.
Fallon softball rolls past Vikings
On the softball diamond, the two-time defending state champs opened Northern Division I-A play with a big win.
Fallon rolled past South Tahoe, 11-0, in five innings to claim its second win of the season. The Lady Wave (2-4 overall) tallied six runs in the first inning and were aided by two hit batters.
Fallon’s Gabby Sharpe added a two-run single in the fourth inning to seal the win.
The Lady Wave take on Truckee at 9 a.m. and Sparks at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in Dayton. South Tahoe, meanwhile, plays Dayton at 9 a.m. and Fernley at 2 p.m. in Dayton.
