October ushers in the Mike Farris & Roseland Rhythm Revue

CAC’s Ales for Arts IV, a fundraiser to support the Arts Council’s 2013-2014 programs, will be held tomorrow from 3-7 p.m. in the Lariat Courtyard at the Oats Park Art Center.

It will be a great chance to sample craft brews from around the region including beers from Brewer’s Cabinet, Brewer’s Lair of the Lost Sierra, Bunejug, Great Basin, High Sierra, Lagunitas, Ruby Mountain, Sierra Nevada and Barry Cochran’s Smoke Brown Chili and Pomegranate Amber Ales.

There will be music by Old River Road featuring Dineen Little. Admission is $25 per person for unlimited tastings and a complimentary commemorative glass. There will also be a variety of sausages, salads, snacks, wine and a specially designed T-shirt with artwork by Reno artist, Michael Sarich available for purchase.

Music fans are in for a real treat when Mike Farris & The Roseland Rhythm Revue roll into town for a performance at the Barkley Theatre on Oct. 4.

The nine-member ensemble, which includes female back-up vocalists and a horn section, has performed across the country and throughout Europe to widespread critical acclaim.

Mike Farris is one of the most impassioned vocalists performing today. He fuses old time Gospel with arrangements that intertwine his powerful vocals with Rock, Blues and his own brand of blue-eyed Soul. Farris will also conduct a free and open-to-the public conversation on his music and influences at 3 p.m. in the Center’s Art Bar.
