Fernley teens found dead in a car

Lyon County patrol deputies and the North Lyon County Fire Protection District responded to the 200 block of Sandia Drive in Fernley shortly before midnight on the night of Jan. 7 for a report of two unresponsive teenagers (male and female) in a parked motor vehicle.

According to Lyon County Detective J.L. Pattison in a media release, once emergency responders arrived on scene, it was determined that both occupants were deceased. CPR was performed on both subjects but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Lyon County detectives were called to the scene and, after a thorough investigation, Pattison said it was determined that foul play was not a factor. Preliminary indications are that carbon monoxide poisoning from the running vehicle resulted in their deaths. Autopsies and toxicology will be performed to determine exact cause of death.
