Retired Nevada Supreme Court Justice injured in Fallon accident

Retired Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Rose was seriously injured

Monday morning in a single vehicle rollover west of Fallon.

The accident happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of U.S.

Highway 50 and York Lane. Churchill County Sheriff deputies on the scene

said Rose was eastbound and apparently lost control of his Nissan

Pathfinder. Witnesses said the vehicle went airborne, rolled several times

and hit a “dead” power pole, one that is not hooked up with electrical


Two fire trucks from Fallon/Churchill Fire Department responded to the scene

and fire crews spent about 30 minutes trying to extricate Rose from the


Paramedics from Federal Fire Department at Naval Air Station Fallon assisted

Fallon firefighters and then transported Rose to Banner Churchill Community


Rose retired from the Nevada Supreme Court in 2006 after serving 18 years.

Rose also served as Nevada lieutenant atnt governor in the 1970s. Before

winning a seat on the bench, he was also an Eighth Judicial District Court
