Lecture series tackles historical Dayton

The Historical Society of Dayton Valley will present a series of free lectures at 7 p.m. Thursdays from May 2 through 16 at the Dayton Valley Community Center, 170 Pike St. May and Ray Walmsley, 1940s graduates of old Dayton High School, will present on May 2. They will be joined by 1950s graduates David Dull and Marius Kendall. The school opened in 1918 as Lyon County High School and featured a gym, chemistry lab, a commercial center with typewriters and classes including shorthand and accounting.
