Carson City landfill outsider fee lowered as lure

Carson City’s Board of Supervisors gave final approval Thursday to an ordinance amending waste fees for the landfill to allow out-of-county fee breaks for large-scale refuse. Public Works Director Andy Burnham estimates that the change, though lowering the rate, will attract construction and demolition solid waste from outside Carson City and increase landfill revenue by about $250,000. The board also finalized the city’s community development block grant program allocations, which were determined earlier but delayed by differing deadlines involving the federal and city governments.
