Another homicide: Martin Waters pounded another man and Harry Doane on the head with a six shooter and then shot him. The affray took place in the Orleans Hotel, and both parties had been drinking. The trustees of the town, F.M. Proctor and O. H. Pierson, met for the purpose of taking cognizance of the affair. James Riddle was appointed by the board. Dr. Munckton was chosen for coroner, a jury was sworn and returned a verdict of guilty. (Territorial Enterprise)

Marlette Lake: The Virginia Water Company is to tap their pipes at a convenient point with a feeder for Carson. They are looking to take the waters of Marlette Lake to Virginia City. It will be necessary to construct a strong aqueduct of iron pipes to carry water down to the lowlands of the Washoe divide and up to the altitude of Mount Davison.
