Carson City’s Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery quarterfinalist for Independent Small Business of the Year

Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City was named a quarterfinalist along with two dozen other business form around the country in Independent We Stand's Independent Small Business of the Year award.
The announcement precedes Small Business Saturday, an event encouraging holiday shoppers to support local businesses on Nov. 29.
"Independently owned businesses re-invest in their local economies at a much higher rate than big-box stores," said Bill Brunelle, founder of Independent We Stand. "This year's quarter-finalists area a great representation of independent businesses across the country, and this award is our way of recognizing these businesses for their outstanding efforts within the communities they serve."
Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery is at 220 W. Telegraph St. It's owned and operated by Jeffery Pace and represents more than 65 Northern Nevada artists whose works range from oils and acrylics to textiles and reclaimed materials. Each piece is one-of-a kind.
The gallery also raises funds throughout the year for area nonprofits. Since it opened in 2011, more than $21,000 has been raised for organizations including Carson City Symphony Association, Wendy Robards Universal Dream Park, Douglas Animal Welfare Group and Advocates to End Domestic Violence.
"I'm passionate about art and my community and am grateful to be able to live the dream by doing and sharing what I love most," said Pace.

Voting is underway through Dec. 14 at http://www.indiebizaward.com to declare the winner of the Small Business of the Year award. One vote can be cast per person per day. The winning business will be announced Dec. 17 when it will receive prizes with a combined value of more than $10,000.
