Carson Tahoe Health embraces strategic affiliation with University of Utah Health Care

Carson Tahoe Health

During the past few years, the healthcare climate in the United States has proven to be unpredictable. In response to national healthcare reform, many organizations have looked at partnerships with other entities to meet the needs of an increasing population.

In 2013, Carson Tahoe Health forged an affiliation with University of Utah Health Care (UUHC), and in 2015, Carson Tahoe Cancer Center became an affiliate of the university's Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). These strategic affiliations provide patients with a virtually seamless, cost-effective transition of care between entities allowing coordinated collaboration among physicians and facilities. Combining efforts affords Carson Tahoe the ability to focus on improving community health, controlling costs, and relying on evidence-based medicine to enhance the overall quality of care. Through these collaborations, CTH has embraced a forward-thinking approach to delivering advanced care while expanding the organization's capacity to treat as many patients in the community as possible.

"Healthcare is changing very rapidly and the key to continued success for an independent healthcare system like ours is finding the right partner," said Ed Epperson, president and CEO of Carson Tahoe Health. "University of Utah Health Care has a world-wide reputation as a provider of accessible, innovative, higher-level care in a patient-centered environment — all the qualities we're looking for in a partner. By pulling together and sharing resources, we're able to provide our community with convenient access to advanced care. In short, we're 'better together.'"

CTH's affiliations with UUHC and HCI offer numerous benefits to Northern Nevadans, including:
