It’s an annual tradition for the Smith family of Carson City to attend the Carson High School Craft Fair.

“I come for ornament ideas,” said Laura Smith, who browsed booths with her husband, Mike, and daughter Sarina, a 2004 graduate of the school. “I’m in an ornament exchange, and I like to support local crafters.”

The 15th annual craft fair is a fundraiser for a variety of clubs and sports programs at the high school.

Student groups sign up to help organize and run the fair. Service points are awarded according to number of students involved and amount of hours worked.

Clubs with the most service points receive the most money once proceeds are collected.

“Last year, we raised well over $12,000 for 25 groups,” said organizer Kathy Barbie.
