Chinese question in England: Discussion by the Democratic Federal was held to discuss the proposed introduction of Chinese labor in Great Britain… A motion calling upon the government to frame measures to present the importation of Chinese was adopted… If the Chinese came to Great Britain working men would be starved out.

National salary list: The treasury disclosed Hollywood was tops on the national salary list in 1940 – the top highest: Louis B. Mayer (Loew’s Inc.), Thomas J. Watson (IBM), Eugene G. Grace (Bethlehem Steel Corp.), George W. Hill (American Tobacco Co.) and Bing Crosby (screen star).
