Judge Cary was thrown from his barouche and received painful injuries… It appears that he put a young colt in the vehicle which had been recently broken, and the animal ran away and collided with the steps of the school house, a short distance from Mr. Cary’s residence and smashed the barouche up pretty badly…

A plucky boy (continued): With the $3 he got his shoes, a sack of corn-meal and a chunk of bacon. The first night he stopped at a house where he was given food and shelter… The next night he had to sleep in the woods and gnaw some bacon he cooked by holding it to the fire on the end of a stick. He kept warm by building four big fires and lying in the center under his coat. If he had waited a few days, he would have been caught in the snow storm… His claim for wages is in the hands of a lawyer. He is a Carson raised boy… the son of Geo. Gillson.
