The suit was to take possession of the old Treadway ranch where all the picnics of the State have been held… Treadway endorsed a note on the Nevada Bank and was told that it was a formality. Afterward the note fell due, the maker died and the stock was sold by the bank to a confederate in Virginia City. As soon as the bank showed its claws, Old Tread in his 75th year secretly married his deceased brother’s widow, and they entered the property as a homestead.
