C. H. Startweather of Carson is named by the Pioche Record as a person who "hopes to have the pleasure of establishing a Lodge of the Knights (of Pythias) at Pioche. It is hoped to start one in Carson next month.

On Sunday last the Pioneer Society held a picnic at Treadway's Ranch, which was but slimly attended. It is only in late years the picnics of various societies of the Comstock have been held on Sunday.

Word came from Glenbrook this evening of the death of Calvin H. Maish, one of the pioneer residents of this city. Mr. Maish had suffered a paralytic stroke some time ago. Cal Maish was one of the early settlers of Carson. He was a native of Kentucky and joined the Federal Army at the outbreak of the war and had a keen interest in the old guard and shooting records.
