The State Orphan's Home has 43 children. It is crowded, and the teacher has been obliged to share her room with some of the children. The infirmary is used as a dormitory, leaving no place for the sick. The influx of newcomers has rendered necessary the purchase of additional bed clothing.

All sorts: McEwen, in the San Franciscan, says that Mr. Phelan is losing his mind because some years ago he had a piece of his skull knocked out and the deficiency was supplied by a silver plate. The other day he tried to realize on the plate.

The balloting for the Queen of the Carson City Carnival and Street Fair has begun. The vote yesterday is registered as follows: Miss Eva Short, 20; Miss Hazel Crisler, 20; Miss Ida Brougher, 20; Miss Kate Schulz, 15; Miss Lena Mara, 15. Each vote is five cents.

The senior high school play, "Oh Promise Me," was a huge success. A dance was enjoyed by the students and cast after the performance at the Leisure Hour Club, sponsored by the Esoteric Society of the school. The orchestra was composed of Evelyn Hazen, Trudy Felesina, Earl Richards and Fred Gatten.
