Carson's Chinatown (continued from Wednesday). There is at the West End, as one might describe it — a small, rude pontificate or amateur bridge, which leads the unwary from the virtuous highway up to the door of a Chinese female boarding house of evil intention; and in the construction of this small bridge we notice that the Oriental architect has made most excellent employment of certain abandoned kerosene cans, having filled them with sand as a mean imitation of masonry, for an abutment of this superstructure (continued Friday).

Among the effects of Mrs. Susan West was a letter written by one of the men who were unjustly shot to death at Palmyra during the war. Although he was to be executed within a few hours, his penmanship was almost perfect. The letter, now 51 years old, appeared on the front page of the Appeal.
