Supervisors to take up budget Monday

Approval of the city's $65 million general fund budget and the all-funds budget, which runs nearly double that, is scheduled at a Carson City Board of Supervisors special meeting on Monday.
The session, set to begin 8:30 a.m. in the Community Center's Sierra Room at Roop and William streets, will include a public hearing for the tentative fiscal year 2014-15 budget prepared by staff for action after the hearing and discussion. Next fiscal year begins July 1.
The spending guide is predicated on a property tax rate of $3.54 per $100 assessed value, and revenue estimates are that general funds will include about $22 million each from city sales tax and the property tax levy, the rest from other sources.
Also on the Monday agenda is a brief item requiring the board to set the tax rate of County Cooperative Extension, which must be done annually. It is figured going into that Monday vote at 1.28 cent per $100 assessed valuation and is the same levy as in prior years.
The board also will convene as the Redevelopment Authority to consider that budget for next fiscal year.
