Three sent to prison, four others get probation

Two men and a woman were sentenced to prison on Tuesday in Carson City District Court.

Ronald Joseph Lawrence, 44, must serve a sentence of two to 15 years in prison for a charge of felony third-offense drunken driving after a prior felony DUI conviction. He had appealed the sentence and it was affirmed recently by the Nevada Supreme Court.

Shaun Nicholas Day, 25, was sentenced to 12 to 48 months in prison with credit for serving 106 days in jail on a charge of attempted possession of a controlled substance. Day is awaiting sentencing in Lyon County on a charge of third-offense drunken driving, which carries a mandatory prison term.

Barri Lynn Eley, 47, was sentenced to 12 to 48 months in prison and a $2,000 fine on a charge of third-offense driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Four men were also sentenced to probation on Tuesday for their part in an illegal bookmaking operation on California Street.

Frank Christopher Edmiston, 32, received two years probation with a suspended jail sentence of one year and 80 hours community service on a charge of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to engage in unlicensed gaming; Matthew Cote, 30, received 18 months probation with a jail sentence of one year suspended and 80 hours community service on a charge of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to engage in unlicensed gaming; James Louis Glon, 62, received two years probation and six months in jail suspended with 80 hours of community service on a charge of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to engage in unlicensed gaming; Darrel Bret Williams, 38, received two years probation and six months in jail suspended with 80 hours of community service on a charge of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to engage in unlicensed gaming.
