Nevada Legislature: Senate passes bill breathing new life into film tax credits

The Associated Press

Nevada senators have passed a bill aimed at breathing new life into a film tax credits program that was gutted while the state worked to attract Tesla.

The Senate unanimously passed SB94 on Wednesday. It now heads to the Assembly.

The measure would remove a cap that limits the state to awarding $10 million over the four years of the program, and would allow the Legislature to adjust that number. It also converts the tax credits from a pilot program to a permanent program.

Democratic Sen. Aaron Ford is the bill sponsor and said the $10 million hasn't provided enough of an incentive for filmmakers to come to Nevada. The number was previously $80 million before the state reduced it to provide incentives to the electric car maker.
