Oct. 10, 1942 - March 17, 2013
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend has left this world to join our Lord in Heaven.
Mick was born to Charles and Joan (Horrie) Ryan in Chicago, IL, and was raised in Torrance, CA, with his five brothers and two sisters. He attended Loyola Marymount and UCLA Universities and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service as Assistant Postmaster with the Torrance office. Mick moved to Minden, Nevada, in June 2004.
Mick is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his second wife, Karen (Lind Rader); his children from his first marriage to Ann, son, Michael and daughters, Kim (Munoz), Rhonda (Carroll), and Raylene (deMars); step daughter, Tracy Klobetanz; sisters, Mary Jo (Coons) and Kelly; brothers, Ricky, Bobby, Jimmy, Jerry, Billy, and by choice, Fred Coons. Mick is also survived by his uncle, Bob; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three nieces and 17 nephews. Mick will also be missed by members of Karen’s family and many dear friends in Northern Nevada and Torrance, CA.
Mick loved sports in general, but he especially loved playing golf and cheering on the Lakers, the SF 49ers, and the Notre Dame and UCLA football teams. Mick also enjoyed camping and was known as the “best bloody mary maker” in the area. He played slow pitch on the Tappa Keggas with his father, brothers, and nephews and also coached Little League. Mick loved a great party with family and friends and all things Irish, especially his trip to Ireland last fall with Karen and best friend Dean Willey.
Mick will be remembered for his love of family and many friends, his sharp mind, his sage advice, and his kind heart.
This is not farewell, love, for we will see you again in Heaven.
Mass will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 2 p.m. at St. Gall’s Catholic Church in Gardnerville, with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 23rd from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Carson Valley Inn Ballroom.
