1918 - 2013
Margaret Egbert Dahl died March 20, 2013. She was born July 7, 1918 in West Jordan, Utah, to Wilford E. and Olivia Gardner Egbert, and was raised in West Jordan.
In 1938, she married Harvey A. Dahl and they lived on a ranch in Cedar Valley, Utah. In 1944, they purchased the Johnston Ranch in Starr Valley, Nevada, which was home the rest of their lives. The family moved to Washington D. C. for two years when Harvey served in the Department of Agriculture during the Eisenhower administration and they spent three years for the LDS Church in Rapid City, South Dakota, where Harvey was the mission president for the Northern Indian Mission. They also lived on the LDS Deseret Ranch in Florida for 10 years, where he was general manager of the ranch. Harvey and Margaret were married for 64 years.
Margaret was active in the LDS Church where she held many positions through the years. She was a long-time member of the Starr Valley Progressive Club and the Elko County Cowbelles.
She is survived by seven children: sons, Demar (Lora), Joe (Jeanette), Drew (Pam), and Mark (Coralee); daughters, Claudia Wines, Olivia (Brad) Anderson, and Jennifer (Ray) Smith. She is also survived by two brothers, Bruce (Kathy) Egbert and Farnes (Lorey) Egbert; one brother-in-law, Tom Bell, 38 grandchildren, and 80 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son-in-law, Gordon Wines; brother, Reid (Marian) Egbert; sisters, Ruth (Claude) Kitley and Kay Bell, and one granddaughter, Amanda Dahl.
Services will be held at the Wells Ward LDS Church Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Starr Valley Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the services at the church.
