Obituary: Alvin "Al" Lee Hayes Jr.

Sep. 26, 1960 - April 2, 2013

Alvin “Al” Lee Hayes Jr., 52, lost his long battle with cancer Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Heaven gained another angel as he ascended peacefully to join his mother, Prudence Hayes (Aguera) and father, Alvin Hayes Sr. Al was born on September 26, 1960 in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from Carson High School in 1978. Not long after graduating, he began working for Raley’s where he continued to work, for 31 years, until his passing. Al was married and willingly became a stepfather to Chrissy (29) and had two children of his own, Jason (26) and Brianna (17). He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. His love for sports showed through in every aspect of his life whether it was watching the Dodgers, Lakers, or Rams on T.V. (more like yelling at the T.V.) or coaching/watching his kids’ and their sports. Undoubtedly, he loved his children, family, his girlfriend, Michelle, and friends more than life itself. All who have known Al continue to say what an amazing and passionate man he was and will be greatly missed.

Al was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and his beloved dog, Rowdy. He is survived by his son, Jason; daughter, Brianna; stepdaughter, Chrissy; brother, Michael; stepmother, Valera; aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 10 a.m. at Walton’s Funeral Home. 1281 N. Roop St., Carson City, NV 89706. Following the service, please join the family at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall at 1380 E. Fifth St., Carson City, NV to continue the celebration of his life. Memorial donations may be made to Greater Nevada Credit Union in memory of Alvin Hayes.
