Sep. 25, 1929 - April 15, 2013
Marie was a native of Nevada, raised in Silver City, Hawthorne and Fallon. Though she lived over 30 years in California, Nevada was always her home. She was proud of her state. Marie’s passion in life was to provide a stable, loving home for her family which she did exceptionally well. Marie cared for her husband, Lloyd, up until weeks before his passing, despite his suffering from blindness, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
Marie became an X-Ray Technician in 1965 and worked until chemotherapy for her lymphoma made her retire in 1985.
Marie was a lover of nature and especially the small animals and birds that would make daily visits to her home for the food and water she so lovingly provided. She would start every morning sitting up in her bed watching the birds, drinking tea and reading her Bible.
At her passing she was surrounded by her family and members of her church. Father Jeff of St. Peters Episcopal Church was holding her hand. Everyone knew that the world was losing a very special person, and that she was being greeted by her friends and family that preceded her.
She is survived by family throughout Northern Nevada and California. Her son, Dan and daughters, Vivian Spiker and Diane Marshall want to extend special thanks to Father Jeff and members of St. Peters Episcopal church in Carson City and the Fischer and Williams Families of Cottonwood Mobile Home Park. Circle of Life Hospice was a great comfort to Marie and her family in her final days.
Memorial Services will be held May 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Peters Episcopal Church, Carson City. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to call someone special in your life and tell them how much you love them and how important they are to you. Any donations can be made to St. Peters Episcopal Church, Carson City.
