Obituary: Laura Reynolds DeLaura

Oct. 1, 1924 - May 25, 2013

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Laura was born in Hartford, CT to William H. and Inez L. Reynolds. The family moved to a farm in Woodstock, CT where she attended the one-room school house, and graduated from Woodstock Academy in 1942. An only child, she enjoyed the animals, school and playing the piano. She led a quiet but full life. Music became such an intricate and beloved part of her life that she later went on to share her love with many students. Laura also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and genealogy. She had an artist’s heart and was quite creative, talents that served her well over the years.

Laura met her future husband, Gil, when he came to work for her father on the farm. They married in 1952. In 1967 they moved out west with their two girls, finally settling in Carson City, NV in 1970. She worked for the State of Nevada for several years, retiring in the early ‘90s.

Laura enjoyed being involved with the church, playing piano and organ, as well as, singing in the choir. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She had a good life, crediting this to her faith and commitment to God, her family and her music.

Laura was preceded in death by Gilbert, her husband of 59 years. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy McCain and Betsy Gould (Tony); grandchildren, Brian and Angela Huffman, Laura Palotas (Jason), Christopher, Daniel, and Abigail Gould, and great-grandchildren, Rheannon Rowe, Hailey and Cole Palotas.

Mom, Grandma, G.G., you were the glue that held us all together. You will always be in our hearts. We love you.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Carson City, on June 15, 2013 at 1p.m.
