Sandoval missed opportunity to support our wild horses

It is time he puts his political ambitions aside and man up. The Nevada Magazine was approached to do a picture book of the state-owned Virginia Range wild horses. The photographs and painting of the horses would have been donated.

What a wonderful tourism incentive this would have been, since the highest selling Nevada Magazine was on the wild horses. This ideas was thrown in the trash can by Director of Tourism Claudia Vecchio, who was appointed by Brian Sandoval. The reason was it is a controversial issue for the governor.

This is a governor who will not address the horse issue and approved the wild horses being sent to the Fallon auction where they could be purchased by kill buyers. This is a governor who received over 18,000 letters and faxes asking him to address the horse issues. Just think if all of the 18,000 would have purchased the picture book, that would have been a lot of revenue, plus the attention it would have gotten the state of Nevada. The pictures that would have displayed the beautiful horses has nothing to do with you, Mr. Sandoval, and you are the controversial issue.

California student seeks help on class report about Nevada

Hello, my name is Jesse Desa. I am a fifth grader at Napa Valley Language Academy in Napa, Calif.

The reason I am writing to you is that my class is doing state reports and I have chosen your magnificent state, Nevada. I would really like it if you posted my letter in your newspaper so that I can get all the help I need for my report. What I need from you or your readers are pamphlets, postcards, souvenirs, historical information or anything else that would be useful.

I will be writing about your state’s agriculture, history, economy, events, historical figures and national parks. I will also be doing an oral report poster and Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

Thank you for your support and help in making me a great researcher of your outstanding state. And please send me a lot of stuff to Napa Valley Language Academy, c/o Mr. Hall, 2700 Kilburn Ave., Napa, CA 94558. Thank you.
