Two killed in fiery crash on Highway 50; alcohol suspected

A man and woman were killed in a fiery collision early Sunday on U.S. Highway 50 at the east end of Carson City, according to the Nevada State Patrol.

Jason Cloutier, 34, of Carson City was eastbound in the wrong lane of Highway 50 about 3:30 a.m. when he crashed into a westbound Ford Taurus, according to the report. Cloutier, who was driving a Nissan Altima, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center where he remains in critical condition, according to Barb Stapleton, spokeswoman for the Nevada Highway Patrol.

His female passenger died in the crash. The male driver of the Taurus, which was engulfed in flames upon impact, also died at the scene. Names of both victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
