Misfits Theater Group donated skit proceeds

The Misfits Theater Group donated total proceeds from its recent skit to the Dayton Preservation Committee. The funds will be used to help restore the Dayton Community Center so that there will be a facility large enough for special events such as weddings and dances. Currently, the building is in desperate need of repair to flooring and exterior walls. The Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is submitting a grant application and will seek matching funds from private donations. That’s where the Misfits Theater Group stepped forward with a comical skit.

The skit, “Hysterical, Historical Dayton of Yore,” presented many educational facts about Dayton’s history and special singing by James Reeves and Donna Crowell. The skit centers around two miners who run the Dipp-Sheets mine. They encounter zany visitors including a desert jokester, a cowboy poet, and a fortune teller. When a problem arises, a government B.U.M. saves the day (that’s short for Bureau of Underground Minerals).
