Tune into two special episodes of the World of X Games: Mammoth Flip with Cam Zink, live on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN and Sunday at 11 a.m. on ABC as part of the World of X Games series.
The shows will capture the world-record attempt for the longest dirt-to-dirt mountain bike backflip by professional mountain biker Cam Zink of Reno and his journey leading up to the 100-foot backflip challenge.
The world-record attempt will take place at Mammoth Mountain’s Canyon Lodge in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., using a setup designed by Zink and built by Mammoth Mountain’s Bike Park team.
Zink, a Carson City native, is expected to reach a speed of nearly 50 mph before launching off a 15-foot high kicker, backflipping 100 feet in the air (past the current record of 78 feet) and landing on a 25-foot high run-out landing.
The World of X Games telecast team will feature X Games host Brandon Graham with the play-by-play account of Zink’s record attempt, four-time X Games BMX gold medalist Kevin Robinson as analyst, X Games reporter Alyssa Roenigk and special talent John Brenkus of ESPN Sports Science, as he breaks down the science behind the mountain as an obstacle and the physics of Zink’s jump in this groundbreaking attempt.
Zink’s backflip will also be streamed live on XGames.com, WatchESPN and through the WatchESPN app, which is available to 67.5 million households nationwide in the U.S. at no additional cost to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
