Local sports: Benavidez, Roberts lead Carson High JV to win

Garritt Benavidez scattered five hits and Delsin Roberts drove in two runs to lead Carson High's JV baseball team to a 6-1 win over Damonte Ranch on Tuesday.

Benavidez struck out one and walked two in his 79-pitch effort. The only run he allowed was unearned.

Roberts and Josh Ingram led the offense with two hits each, and Zach Glanzmann, Kenny Aydelott and Josh Buchan added one each.

Carson scored three in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth.

Fallon sweeps meet

FALLON — Fallon had a big day at the track, winning The Conclave of Awesomeness event Wednesday afternoon.

Fallon won the boys meet with 101, far ahead of Fernley (63), Dayton (56) and Yerington (34). Fallon won the girls with 91 points. Fernley was second with 59 followed by Dayton with 57 and Yerington with 29.

J.J. Ply won two events for the boys. Ply won the 300 hurdles in 40.58 and the high jump with a mark of 6-2. Austin Duarte was second in the 1600 in 5:31 and the 3200 in 11:53.56, and Carson Crosby won the 200 (24.49) and took second in the 100 (11.98). Jeffrey Walker was second in the 300 hurdles (44.48) and fourth in the long jump (17-6). David Delfin was fourth in the discus with a throw of 124-7.

Ashley Mason won the triple jump with an effort of 34-1 1/2 and the long jump with a mark of 15-7. Grace Wells won the pole vault with a 6-6 effort. Rebecca Mason was second in the 400 (66.70) and second in the high jump at 4-10. Sydney Strickler was third in the 100 (13.99) and second in the 300 hurdles (55.81), Hannah Coltrin third in the 800 (2:53.83) and Macie Callan was third in the 200 (29.93) and fifth in the 100 (14.33).

Browns win thrice

The Browns won three games last week to improve to 6-0 in the Talents Carson City NFL Flag Football League.

The Browns knocked off the Raiders, 41-13; the Steelers 67-39; and the Eagles, 52-37.

The Raiders went 0-2-1 last week, the Seahawks went 2-1, the Patriots went 0-1-1, the Steelers went 1-2 and the Eagles went 1-1.

Anthony Larry had seven TDs and three TD passes, Alex Myrehn scored six times and threw two TD passes, Trevor Marlin threw for seven scores and scored twice, and Kory Grist scored five times. Eduardo Orozco threw one TD pass and scored four times.

Here are the stats for the other teams:

Raiders (3-2-1): Joey Altemerano threw six TDs and scored once, Michael Gullie scored three times and scored once, Chris Bravo scored twice and threw a TD pass and Luis Plasensia scored twice.

Seahawks (3-3): Alan Mayoral scored six times and threw a TD pass, Aden McNabb threw for six TDs and scored once, Thomas Young scored four times and Aaron Witt scored once and threw for two scores.

Patriots (2-3-1): Jacob Hanson threw four TDs and scored three times and William Orr had four TD passes and scored twice.

Eagles (2-4): Ryan Galloway had 11 TD passes and scored once, R.J. Gomez scored five times and Ryan Kleine scored three times.

Steelers (1-4): Christian Smith had six TD passes and two scores, Brandon Marsh scored five time and had one TD pass, Riley Geovaneti scored three times and Kincaid Gill had three TD passes.
