The Oasis Academy Bighorns lacrosse team earned a pair of wins against Spring Springs on Saturday.
The under-13 club Bighorns fell behind early, but rallied for a 10-5 win and improved to 2-3 on the season.
In the first quarter, but a goal late in the quarter by midfielder Nick Springfield cut the deficit to 3-1. In the second quarter, Oasis stormed back with goals by midfielders Donovan Fermaint, Anthony Lombardo and attackman Brendan Leary.
Tied at 4 in the third quarter, the Bighorns again exploded with three goals. Attackman Kaden Stone lead off the scoring followed by midfielder Nico Hofheins and Fermaint with his second goal of the game. Entering the final quarter with a 7 -4 lead, the Bighorns finished strong with goals from midfielders Erick Orozco and Josh Carter. Hofheins netted a hat trick leading Bighorns scorers on the day. The final score of 10-5 improved the Bighorns record to 2-3.
Fighting high winds, the under-15 Oasis club put on a ball management clinic, maintaining offensive zone possession for nearly the entire game ending in a 14-0 win. With the win, Oasis improves to 4-1.
Attackman Nick Delgado started off the Bighorns scoring in the first and finished the day with two goals.
Midfielder/faceoff specialists Trent Thorn and Anthony Lombardo each added two goals. The Bighorns spread the scoring evenly around the team, with seven other players each scoring one goal including attackmen Blake Malkovich, Tristan Rodarte, Dakota Welch and Hofheins and midfielders Luis Orozco, Morgan McAlexander and Josh Carter.
At the other end, goaltenders Tristan Rodarte and Clayton Steelmon shut the door and combined for a shutout.
The Bighorns play the Mount Rose Rattlers at 5 p.m. (U13) and 6 p.m. (U15) in Fallon today at the Churchill County Regional Fields.
