Fallon softball rolls past Dayton

The Fallon softball team blew past Dayton in a doubleheader on Thursday at the Ed Arciniega Complex.

The Lady Wave came out on top, 11-0 and 18-0, and have now won eight straight games. Fallon will compete today and Saturday in the Reed tournament.

The Lady Wave bested Dust Devils fireballer Makayla Shadle in game one. Shadle recorded 11 strikeouts, but allowed 11 runs — 10 unearned — in the loss. She held Fallon to three hits. Shadle also tallied a pair of singles,

Dayton’s defense struggled as the Dust Devils committed 11 errors.

Miranda Ford, meanwhile, allowed two hits and struck out three for Fallon.

Fallon took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Lady Wave tallied four runs and added three more in the sixth.

Kaysee Archer, who signed a letter of intent to play at Western Nevada College next season, went 3-for-4 with a double and scored four runs.

Rileigh Ricken added two doubles and two RBIs, while Cady Cordes and Paige Thorn each drove in two.

In the second game, Fallon roared out to an early 6-0 lead after the second inning. The Lady Wave tallied seven runs in the third and five in the fourth.

Dayton’s defense again struggled as the unit committed eight errors. Fallon banged out 11 hits.

Ali Tedford and Thorn led Fallon with three RBIs, while Ricken and Megan McCormick each drove in two. Tedford, Archer and Gabby Sharpe each tallied two hits.

Ricken, meanwhile, picked up the win and struck out four and did not allow a walk.

Lacey Combs allowed 18 runs — four earned — struck out three and walked six.

Shadle, Kalee Alexander, Shalia Powell and Clarice Cerda each had a hit for Dayton.
