The Fernley softball team rallied from a seven-run deficit over Fallon to win the Division I-A state championship on Saturday at UNLV.
At one point, Fallon led 13-6 but the Vauqeros tallied eight runs including five in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Lady Wave freshman Kalyn Huckaby and Miranda Ford each committed errors in the seventh to give Fernley life.
Fallon’s offense, though, lit up the scoreboard highlighted by a three-run home run from Rileigh Ricken. However, the Lady Wave left the bases loaded twice and in three seperate innings stranded two runners.
