Community spotlight: Alta Alpina cycling club slates prologue for Thursday

The first Alta Alpina Cycling Club race is set for Thursday.
The initial outing will be a prologue. Riders can use the race to determine what category they want to compete in.
The race fees this year are the same as last year: $10 for Alta Alpina Members and $15.00 for non-members. For racers under 18 the fee is $5, unless you are an ACTIVE member of the AACC JR. Team.
Punch cards are avilable. For AACC members it's eight races for $80, $160 for the entire season (the last race is free if you purchase the entire season pass). For non-members, it's eight races for $120 and season pass $240 (the last race is free for the season pass).
All racers please bring a filled out a race waiver to your first race; this will provide emergency contact info on site for the season and will save time at registration. There is a link to the US Cycling site on the Road Race page of AACC to download the waiver form.
Riders need to write out separate checks for membership and races.

Thursday's race will start at Fredericksburg and Fairview lanes. Next week we will be at Diamond Valley for a short course instead of a regular course due to the cold and it still gets dark too early for a regular course.
Plumas Pines opens
on April 16
Plumas Pines opens its doors for the season on April 16 with a couple of great specials.
The course offers a $60 play all day special and an $85 golf and dinner package.

Dalen wins A flight
at Empire Ranch
Gary Dalen carded a net 63 to win A flight at the recent Empire Ranch Senior Men's Club event.
Geoff Swann was second with a 64 and Richad Torok took third in a tiebreaker with a 65.
Nick Paul won B flight with a 61, a shot better than John Lewis and two better than Nils Sharpe. Peter Youngdahl won C flight with a 61, one shot better than Dennis Smalland, two shots better than Greg Bentley.
Alexander golf clinic
set for Sunday
The 23rd annual Fred Alexander Memorial Family Golf Clinic is set for May 17 from 11:45 to 4 p.m. at Eagle Valley golf course.
All junior golfers between 6 and 17 and their parents are invited to attend. The clinic is free. More than 40 Sierra Nevada professionals and apprentices will be on hand to instruct clinic attendees. Newly returning soldiers are invited to attend.
