Timeout with Maribel Ledezma
September 27, 2012
Q: What are your favorite sports and why?
A: Soccer and basketball are my favorites because they are both very active, and I have so much fun playing them.
Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
A: Lionel Messi because he’s accomplished so much at a young age. He’s fast and the best at soccer.
Q: How do you feel about drug/alcohol testing at the high school level? Should it be random or should everybody on a team be tested at least once during the season?
A: I don’t mind them (drug tests). I feel that if sports really interests you then it should be your priority above all other things, especially drugs or alcohol.
Q: If you saw a teammate using drugs or alcohol, what would you do? Would you talk to him about it or turn him into the coach?
A: It would be an uncomfortable situation. I would confront my teammate about it.
Q: The Olympics just ended. How much of the coverage did you watch and what sport did you enjoy watching the most and why?
A: I didn’t watch a whole lot, but I did watch soccer and supported Mexico.
Q: Do you have any hobbies, and if so, what are they?
Q: Do you have a favorite TV show?
A: So You Think You Can Dance
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Mexican food is my favorite, but overall I would say sopes.
Q: What is the last non-academic you read?
A: Who Put That Hair in My Toothbrush. It’s a great book
Q: If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be?
A: I wish we had a longer lunch period. I’m sure nobody would mind staying 10 minutes longer at school.
Q: What sport isn’t offered at the high school level that you think should be?
A: There is no swim team. It would be great to have a swim team
Q: After graduation, where do you plan to attend college, and what are you looking at in terms of a major?
A: I’m looking at UNR. I would love to play soccer, and career-wise I’m looking at nursing.
