Brüka Theatre staging “Mother Hulda” in Carson City
“Mother Hulda,” a 19th century tale about the value of kindness and honesty, will be retold in Brüka Theatre’s updated version titled “Wishing” at 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St.
The performances will feature the Brüka ensemble, which will bring the story to life with a small set of props and costumes. Children are invited to participate in the creation of each performance, ensuring every show is unique.
According to the show’s organizers, Brüka Theatre brings varied styles of theater to its children’s performances to expose young audiences to live presentations with a deeper message.
The story, geared for children and families, is written by Mary Bennett. Brüka’s version is adapted from “Mother Hulda,” from Grimms’ Fairy Tales, first published in 1812.
Tickets cost $5 for children 12 and under and $10 for everyone else.
Brüka Theatre, which has staged live performances in the area for 22 years, partners with Pioneer Youth Programs and venues when touring schools and communities.
