The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, BRIC Art 5, with artwork by eight area artists at the City’s Business Resource Innovation Center, where a reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Each year at the BRIC, CCAI’s group exhibition presents northern Nevada artists’ work in a diversity of styles and in a variety of media. The exhibition, spread throughout the first floor offices and conference rooms, presents artists’ creativity in collage, photography, painting, sculpture, and print making.

BRIC Art 5 features mixed media collages by Joan Arrizabalaga, Tuscarora oil landscapes by Ron Arthaud, portraits by Zoe Bray, watercolors by Cyndy Brenneman, silk embroideries based on MRI images by Paula Chung, monotypes by Amelia Currier, paper sculptures by Vance Houston, and photographs of historic Reno residences by Emily Rogers.

The Capital City Arts Initiative is an artist-centered organization committed to the encouragement and support of artists and the arts and culture of Carson City and the surrounding region. The Initiative is committed to community building for the area’s diverse adult and youth populations through art projects and exhibitions, live events, arts education programs, artist residencies, and online projects.

CCAI is funded in part by the John Ben Snow Memorial Trust, Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, City of Carson City, Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities, Comstock Foundation for History and Culture, and the John and Grace Nauman Foundation.

The Business Resource Innovation Center is at 108 E Proctor Street. The exhibition, which runs through Sept. 4, 2015, and reception are free.
