The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation announced the date for its annual fundraiser, HopeFest8.

The free summer evening concert will be headlined by Tyrone Wells, whose soulful sounds entertained the crowd last year. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 at Carson Tahoe Medical Center.

All proceeds from food, drink, and raffle ticket sales will go toward cancer patient support.

Carson Tahoe Health said the fundraiser benefits the critical needs of cancer patients that go beyond the hospital, such as gas to get to treatment, no-cost lodging at the Merriner Cottages, and help with insurance co-pays and life-saving medications.

This support allows cancer patients and their families to be free from fear of losing their home, running out of gas on their way to treatment, or other financial burdens during an often devastating time in their lives.

Since 2011, the Carson Tahoe Health Foundation has raised more than $575,000 in direct patient support, including $166,860.85 for insurance premiums and co-pays; $191,857.09 for mortgage, rental, and utility companies on behalf of patients; and $87,000 in the form of gas cards. Although HopeFest is only one day, it provides 365 days of support to cancer patients.

Tyrone Wells is a singer/songwriter in the folk-pop genre from Spokane, Wash. His songs have been featured in television shows (“Intervention,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private Practice,” “Rescue Me,” “One Tree Hill,” “The Vampire Diaries”) and film (“Everyone’s Hero,” “My Sister’s Keeper,” and “Rails & Ties”). Wells has had the No. 1 iTunes Singer-Songwriter album and has ranked in the Top Ten iTunes overall.

Additionally, for the 10th year, HopeFest’s grand raffle prize is sponsored by Dick Campagni’s Dealership Group. The raffle winner will have the choice between $10,000 cash or a new car from Toyota or Ford.

Tickets can be purchased at or prior to HopeFest at locations throughout Carson City including Carson Tahoe Gift Shop, Carson Tahoe Marketing Office, and Health & Wellness Institute.

Raffle tickets are priced at $20 each or $100 for six.
