Cíana is bringing traditional Irish music to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11.

With fiddles, mandolin, guitars, and singers, Cíana performs tunes and songs from the Irish and Celtic tradition. With a nod to those Irish musicians from whom they learned, Cíana keeps alive the Irish tradition of lively tunes and soulful songs.

Cíana’s roster includes Tina Carlsen on fiddle and vocals, Holly Sternberg on fiddle, Kathy Bly playing the guitar and octave mandolin, and Joe Bly playing flute, tin whistle, guitar and vocals.

The group met at Irish music sessions around western Nevada, and were soon getting together to play in living rooms and coffeehouses. After playing many local performances, Cíana caught the attention of Revel Records, which quickly signed the group and released its debut recording in 2012.

The park’s Twilight Concert Series is sponsored by Bently Ranch, Soaring NV, The Record-Courier, Dr. James the Dentist, Joyce’s Fine Jewelry, Douglas County, and the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation. This concert also receives funding support from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person and are available in Gardnerville at Joyce’s Fine Jewelry and Battle Born Wine, and are also available at dangberg.eventbrite.com. If available, tickets will also be sold at the gate, which opens at 5:30 p.m. Children 16 and younger are free and do not need a ticket.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Soft drinks and water will be available for purchase, or visitors can bring a picnic and their favorite beverage. Dogs are not permitted in the park, which is at 1450 Highway 88, about a quarter mile north of the Carson Valley Animal Hospital. The park’s full event schedule is at dangberghomeranch.org.
