Peter Pan auditions Saturday in Carson City

Nevada Appeal staff report

The story of a boy who’s reluctant to grow up and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, is coming to life in Carson City.

Youth Theatre Carson City will hold auditions at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Carson City Community Center for its upcoming production of “Peter Pan,” whose cast will be comprised of youth ages 5-21.

The story follows Peter and Tinkerbell’s magical journey across the stars, a trip neither of them will ever forget. The travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates, and of the villainous Captain Hook.

The show, directed by Andie Anderson, Youth Theatre Carson City founder, features the iconic songs “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow,” “I Won’t Grow Up,” and “Never Never Land.” Roles are available for Peter, Wendy, John and Michael, Captain Hook and his band of pirates, Tiger Lily and her tribe of Native Americans, and Peter’s gang of Lost Boys.

Andie Anderson has been a part of the arts community in Northern Nevada for more than 20 years. She earned a master’s in theatre education from Emerson College in Boston, Mass. This fall, she will become the new theatre arts instructor at Carson High School.

Auditioners are asked to prepare a one-minute song. They are also asked to prepare to learn a dance at the audition. Callbacks will be at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Performances are July 31 through Aug. 9 at the Community Center’s Bob Boldrick Theatre, 851 E. William St.

Tickets cost $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors.
