Photographer Fred Howland bringing work to Carson City Brewery Arts Center
The Brewery Arts Center is working with Artsy Fartsy’s Jeff Pace, is loaning several pieces of Fred Howland’s work for a collaborative exhibition of his photography on Friday and Saturday in the Brewery Arts Center’s 1864 Grand Ballroom.
Howland has been involved with fine art photography for more than 40 years. His first solo exhibit took place while he was still in high school.
Howland studied at the Montserrat School of Visual Arts in Beverly, Mass., and later studied photography as a fine art at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.
The photographer has won a number of awards for his work. One of his most recent awards was first prize in the portrait/people category in the Nevada Magazine 2015 photography competition.
“It has been my passion over the years to raise my photography to the level of fine art,” Howland said about his work.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. A reception is plannQed from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 449 W. King St. Howland’s work can also be seen from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
