Violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn to join TOCCATA in WinterFest performances Jan. 29-Feb. 5
TOCCATA — Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus — is continuing its 11th annual WinterFest with Elizabeth Pitcairn performing with the legendary Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius violin in a series of performances in the Carson City area.
The program opens with Felix Mendelssohn’s symphonic choral masterpiece Elijah, Part 2, featuring vocal soloists Anna Helwing, Joy Strotz, and Becky Earl, sopranos; Liudmila Mullin, mezzo soprano; Brad Perry and Sherman Modeste, tenor; and Stuart Duke, Chris Nelson, and Chris Langton, baritones.
The concert concludes with Elizabeth Pitcairn performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major. Jeffrey Lindhorst is Tahoe Symphony concertmaster. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.
Performances are at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at St. Theresa Church, 1041 Lyons Ave., South Lake Tahoe; 3 p.m. Jan. 31 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Manogue Drive, Reno; 7 p.m. Feb. 3 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3597 Sunridge Drive, Carson City; and 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at Cornerstone Church, 300 Country Club Drive, Incline Village.
Preferred seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students. General admission to all concerts is $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $5 for students 19-23. Youth under the age of 19 are free. In addition to the performances, two soiree musicale fundraisers will take place at private locations. The first will be at 3 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Supper Club at Genoa Lakes Golf Course, and the second will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 6 at a home in Incline Village. Tickets are $125 per person. Pitcairn will perform, as well as Joy Strotz and Anna Helwing, sopranos; Liudmila Mullin, mezzo soprano; and Brad Perry, tenor, accompanied by Donna Axton on piano.
