Sierra in-line goes 2-2 in nationals

The Sierra Inline Hockey 12 and under all-star team went 2-2 to finish third in its pool at the USA National Championships in Chicago.


Sierra will play today against the No. 2 seed from the other pool in the single elimination playoff format


Sierra opened with a 7-4 win over the Slapshotz Sabres before falling to the Stars Inline Hockey Club 12-2 on Thursday. On Friday, Sierra lost to the four-time defending champion Franklin Cooler Selects of Atlanta 7-0 before coming back to beat Team Extreme of Hawaii 5-2.


Against the Sabres, Brice Crook had two goals and three assists, Blake Peterson had two goals and two assists, Ryan Dwyer scored twice and Charlie Donnatin scored once. Against Stars Inline, Dwyer and Donnatin each scored once.


Against Team Extreme, Crook scored four goals and Peterson scored once. Chris Marchant and Richie Copeland have been splitting time at goalie.


Ten of the nation's top teams are competing in the event.
