Duncan fails to make cut in U.S. Amateur

Chris Mundorf, 23, of Greensboro, N.C., shot a 9-under-par 63 at Druid Hills Golf Club Tuesday for a two-day total of 8-under 134 to lead the 36-hole stroke play results at the U.S. Amateur Golf Championship in Atlanta.


Carson City's Jeff Duncan failed to finish in the top 64 and didn't make the cut for match play. After firing a 71 on Monday, Duncan shot a 78 on Tuesday to finish with a two-round total of 149.


The field of 312 was nearly trimmed to 64, but 15 players headed to a playoff for the remaining two spots. The cut was 2-over 144. Officials suspended play until today at 7:30 a.m. because of darkness. Eight of the 15 moved on to another playoff with pars.


Billy Harvey of Las Vegas shot a two-round total of 142 to make the field of 64.
