BLUE LAKES (UPPER AND LOWER): Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) gave this report: The boaters are doing pretty well with silver flasher blades and worms or lures. Catching limits at Upper Blue.

BOCA RESERVOIR: No report.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR: Steve Marti (760-932-9292) said, "There is still enough water to fish off Rainbow Point and that's where most of the fishermen are going. With the warm temperatures, the fishing has slowed down but reports still have fish being caught in the 1.5-3 pound range."

BURNSIDE LAKE: No report.

East Carson: Very low and crystal clear. Best for fly fishermen, working the deeper holes.

West Carson: Extremely low and crystal clear. It is the lowest I have ever seen it. Best for fly fishermen, working the deeper holes.

CRATER LAKE (Near Kit Carson Pass): No report.

CONVICT LAKE AND CONVICT CREEK:

Convict Lake: A 9.60 pounder on a white Trout Teaser. White marshmallows and grasshopper flies also working well.

Convict Creek: Best with red salmon eggs.

CROWLEY LAKE: Best with gray Midge flies at McGee and Hilton Bays in 8-9 feet of water.

DAVIS LAKE: No report.

EAGLE LAKE: Dave Meserve of the Eagle Lake Marina (530-825-3454) sent in this report: "Fishing this past week ranged from very good to excellent. Most anglers reported catching fish every day. Limits seemed common about every other day. Techniques have ranged from trolling with Needlefish lures and nightcrawlers to still-fishing under slip-bobbers. Some have reported success using Herring Dodger blades with worms or lures. Most of the fish are caught at depths ranging from 25 to 40 feet. Eagles Nest and Wildcat Point continue to be the most productive area for boaters. Marginal success was reported from the Eagle Lake Marina jetty this past week."

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR: Wiggin's Trading Post in Chilcoot checked in with: Some nice rainbows have been caught this week. Go deep, float nightcrawlers off the bottom. Early morning and evening fishing is the best. The nights are getting considerably cooler.

FROG LAKE: No report.

Grant Lake: Broken-Back Rapala lures.

Gull Lake: Gold Kastmaster lures.

June Lake: Sierra Gold near the reeds. Also using Woolly Bugger flies in the Boulder Lodge area. Trolling with 8 colors of leadcore line with silver Needlefish or perch colored Rapala lures.

Silver Lake: Some 2-3 pounders. A lot of limits from shore. Sierra Bright and Light Cahill flies working well.

Rush Creek: Worms or salmon eggs.

KIRMAN (CARMEN) LAKE: No report.

KENNEY RESERVOIR: No report.

George Lake: A 3.25 pounder on a Mosquito fly.

Mamie Lake: Olive Matuka or Woolly Bugger flies or nightcrawlers.

Mary Lake: Recent plant of Alper's. Best with rainbow Power Bait, Turbo Dough, nightcrawlers or San Juan flies.

Twin Lakes: Top trout were a 10.6 pounder and a 7.5 pounder, both on nightcrawlers. Lower Lake was best with orange or Lemon Twist Power Bait.

Mammoth Creek: Olive Woolly Bugger flies or Roostertail lures.

MARKLEEVILLE CREEK: No report.

NORTH POND: No report.

OWENS RIVER: Susie Greilich at Kittridge Sporting Goods Store in Mammoth (760-934-7566) said:

Benton Crossing (Upstream): Best with Grasshopper flies in the evening. Check for special regulations.

POORE-SECRET-ROOSEVELT-LANE LAKES: No report.

RED LAKE: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) gave this report: The boaters are doing pretty well with silver flasher blades and worms or lures. Catching some limits.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing in Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448) gave this report: Anderson to Red Bluff: King salmon fishing is up and down. Anglers seeing a few fish per boat and putting in full days. Still not a lot of fish moving into the area. Definitely a late year for the Kings. Water flow is at 10,250 CFS. They are using T-50 Flatfish lures or bouncing roe. The average size is 12-14 pounds. Larger fish will appear in later months."

SILVER LAKE: No report.

SHASTA LAKE: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing in Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448) gave this report: "Rainbow trout fishing is good and has remained steady. Fishing 60-100 feet deep with downriggers. Fish are in the 1-5 pound range. Trolling shad pattern lures. Weather is beautiful."

SOUTH-NORTH-INTAKE 2-BISHOP CREEK (WEST OF BISHOP): The Bishop Creek Lodge (760-873-4484) checked in with this report: The weather has been pretty warm, even up here. We have been in the mid 80's and the nights have been in the hi 50's and low 60's. Most afternoons are showing smoke from some of the fires.

South: The top trout was a 7-pound, 8-ounce Alper's on a Thomas Buoyant lure on 2-pound test line. The lake was stocked with Alper's on Thursday and F&G on Friday, but the fish were picky about what they wanted to eat. Some success with Power Bait on the shore and behind the island. Nightcrawlers were good by the Rock Slide. Red/gold Thomas Buoyant lures did real well as did the Brown trout color of Thomas Buoyant lures.

North: The two largest trout were a 5-pound, 14-ounce Alper's and a 4-pound, 1-ounce Alper's, both taken by an angler using a Mepps spinner. A lot of success with yellow or green Roostertail lures. Power Bait or salmon eggs did real well.

Intake No. 2: A couple of anglers in a rubber raft knocked them out, using Power Bait. This is a real popular way to fish at Intake.

Bishop Creek: Fishing has slowed down but still quite a few nice, F&G Trophy Trout and a few big Alper's Trophy Rainbow Trout. Power Bait remained the best bait and Panther-Martin lures were the lure of choice. The water level is remaining steady. Typical of mid-August, the area is pretty full with anglers and vehicles.

Backcountry: There are lots of cars in the parking lot but not much talk about overcrowding in the backcountry. Reports of great fishing with salmon eggs or Panther-Martin lures. A group fished the Treasure Lakes area and caught lots of Golden Trout with white May Flies.

STAMPEDE RESERVOIR: No report.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) reported, "Same report as usual. We are catching about a dozen Mackinaws per trip. Most of the Macks are in the 3-5 pound class. I'm tagging and releasing the smaller ones. Still doing best in the first two hours of daylight, trolling 250-550 feet deep, right in front of the Carnelian Bay-King's Beach area. We are trolling silver flasher blades with live minnows or pearl colored Apex lures."

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: No report.

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore: No report.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550) checked in with this report: "The lake is way low, right now. Fishing is slow and quiet out here. Not very many fishermen. Mostly speed boats, water skiers and jet skis."

TWIN LAKES (UPPER AND LOWER):

Upper Twin: No report.

Lower Twin: Steve Marti of the Twin Lake Resort (760-932-7751) said that little 7-year old Jenay Drake of San Clemente, Calif., landed a monster 13-pound rainbow trout on a 4-pound test line with a No. 16 treble hook, using orange Power Bait. Her proud father helped net the huge fish before it got away. Caleb Lockhart of Gardnerville caught a nice 2-pound rainbow using red salmon eggs.

Robinson Creek: Has been very good after the weekly stockings.

VIRGINIA LAKES AREA: No report.

WALKER LAKE: Bob Tompkins of the Gun and Tackle Store in Hawthorne (775-945-3266) reported that a few boaters, who are braving the heat, are catching their limits. They are starting very early and quiting by noon. The best fishing is at a depth of 45-75 feet, from Sportsmen's Beach to The Cliffs. They are using downriggers and large, Flatfish lures.

WALKER RIVERS (EAST-WEST-LITTLE):

East Walker (Nev.): Small rainbows and German browns in the 12-14 inch class are being caught on Panther-Martin or small gold Phebe lures in "The Elbow" area.

West Walker (Nev.): No report.

East Walker (Calif.): No report.

West Walker (Calif.): Low and crystal clear. Difficult to fish.

Little Walker: Low and crystal clear. Continues to produce easy limits of small brookies and rainbow trout on worms in the Willow Flat area.

WASHOE LAKE: No report.

WEBER RESERVOIR: Bob Tompkins of the Gun and Tackle Store in Hawthorne (775-945-3266) reported that Weber is still closed to fishing due to low water levels. All access roads remain roped off.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: Dennis Dunn of the Wildhorse Resort (775-758-6472) gave this report: "We've got a big fire burning on one side of us and it looks like it is going to rain on the other side. It's a cool, cloudy day (Monday). The fishing has been good. They are catching rainbows and German browns about 3-5 feet under the surface and the catfish and perch are right on the bottom. The trollers are using flasher blades and worms. Clarence Romans of North Las Vegas checked in with a 31-inch, 12.4 pound, Channel Catfish. He caught 6 catfish and a limit of rainbow trout (about 14-18 inches), all in shallow water with nightcrawlers. Also, had an archer from Carson City check in with a very nice 4X3 buck.

WINNEMUCCA LAKE: No report.
