RENO - A late-night prank turned into a disaster Tuesday when a 16-year-old boy was ejected and killed in a rollover accident on East Hidden Valley Drive.
Daniel Solis and four friends were southbound at 11:40 p.m. near Mira Loma Drive when the1989 Ford Taurus they were riding in went out of control at a curve and rolled several times.
Two other juveniles were taken to Washoe Medical Center where they were treated and released. Testing revealed that alcohol was not a factor.
According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, the teenagers had just "egged a nearby residence and were leaving the area."
The vehicle came to rest in an empty residential lot in a new housing development.
The accident is still under investigation by the Washoe County Major Accident Investigation Team.
