Arts council gives cash to 21 schools and groups

The Nevada Arts Council has awarded more than $40,000 to 21 schools and organizations in Nevada.

The money was awarded for Artist in Residence program for the coming school year. That program provides money for professional artists to work in a variety of educational and other settings.

The grant winners include the Comstock Arts Council in Virginia City, the Yerington Theater for the Arts and Scarselli Elementary in Gardnerville.

The artists participating in the program range from folk artists doing bead work to dance and theater artists to those practicing more traditional art forms.
