LAS VEGAS - A 5-month-old baby died hours after a car drove onto a sidewalk and hit the child's mother and the stroller the baby was in.

Tanya Cokley, 38, was pushing her son, Zalachi Cokley, in a stroller, along a sidewalk in east Las Vegas about 11:30 a.m. Monday, police said.

A 1995 Nissan driven by Mark Min, 47, of Las Vegas, veered onto the sidewalk, striking Cokley and the stroller from behind. The impact threw the infant from the stroller, police said.

Both victims were taken to University Medical Center, where the infant died at 5:45 p.m. and Tanya Cokley remains in serious condition.

Police said the driver had not been drinking or using drugs.

No charges have been filed in the case, as detectives continue to investigate the accident.
