ELKO - A balanced Carson High School girls golf team finished third in its season-opening Northern 4A conference match on Wednesday at Ruby View Golf Course.

Sara Liveratti shot 91 for the Senators, who carded a team total of 478 to finish 18 strokes behind Reno in first-place.

"We've got room for improvement and I think most of them know that, but it's not a bad start to the season," Carson coach Paul Croghan said. "We had good consistency."

Ten strokes separated Carson's five scoring players. After Liveratti, Megan Mulvaney shot 93, Cassidy Baxter 95, Katie Morton 98, Christie Upton 101 and Ciera Christian 101. The first five are all seniors in their fourth year with the program and Christian is a freshman who played her first 18-hole match.

Reno finished first as a team at 460 and the Huskies' Nicole Felesina earned individual medalist honors with her 76. Wooster shot 470 to finish second as a team, while Carson took third by one shot over Galena.
