Carson High graduate Jon Wilson took home gold and bronze medals for the University of Nevada cycling team at the NCAA Mountain Bike Championships.

Wilson, a 1995 Carson graduate, placed first in the men's downhill, third in the dual slalom and third in the overall standings. More than 200 riders from 23 schools competed in the event held recently in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Wilson completed the three-mile downhill course in six minutes, 24.7 seconds, beating runner-up Ryan Harris from Fort Lewis College by 2.54 seconds. He beat Bakersfield (Calif.) College's Todd Snider, who is ranked 15th in the NORBA pro class, for his third place finish in the dual slalom.

Nevada finished 11th in the team standings. The team has four more racing weekends before the Western Collegiate Cycling Conference Championships on Dec. 2 and 3 at Cal Poly Pomona where Wilson will be looking for his third conference downhill championship.
