Children will have the opportunity to learn how to be a clown in a new class beginning July 11 at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada.

The six-week class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Children will learn about clown characters, makeup and costume. They will discover basic balloon sculpturing, pocket magic and how to develop their own characters.

The new clowns will work on skits and gestures, prop making and then put on a big show. Cost is $55 for the 12-session class plus $15 for a makeup kit and clown wig. Space is limited.
